How To Fundraise

We are immensely thankful to all the people who have tirelessly been raising funds for us over the years and the remarkable things our supporters have done and continue to do to raise funds for SITraN – choosing us as their charity for fundraising events ranging from: cake sales; collections or donations in lieu of gifts; sponsored marathons; skiing to the South Pole to reliving William Bligh’s journey after the mutiny on the Bounty from Tonga to Timor.

We are often asked for the best way to arrange collections from fundraising events. If a collection is made at an event, we provide Gift Aid forms to download which can be forwarded with a final cheque directly to SITraN. For Fundraisers trying to attract sponsoring and donations for a certain length of time up to their event, setting up a JustGiving or VirginGiving website is the best option.

JustGiving or Virginmoneygiving websites

You can raise sponsorship money through the JustGiving  or Virginmoneygiving websites, which will allow you to set up your own fundraising webpage for the event.

When fundraising for SITraN, please select the "University of Sheffield" as your chosen charity. SITraN is a charitable project under the University of Sheffield’s charitable status, registered as an exempt charity (No. X1089).
Once you have set up your account and linked to the University of Sheffield, you can edit and customize your page - adding the title and information about your event, indicating that you are raising funds for SITraN and including information who we are.

This will ensure that all the money received by the University from your Just Giving page for your sponsored event is passed on to SITraN to support its activities.

As an example, please follow the link to Tim Garrod's justgiving page raising funds for SITraN.
Good luck with your fundraising and we hope that you have an enjoyable and successful activity.
Please send us your pictures and your stories, so we can include them in our Latest News and our fundraising Gallery.

Thank you so much for your kind support!
